JSD….Perfect White Shirt –By the Cup Full~

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is gearing up for the Holiday Season… I’m busy gearing up j stern designs!   I’ve been working on a bunch of new projects.  Jeans and The Tee will always be my first loves, but I want to expand … into cup-sized patterns.   I’m working on the “perfect white shirt” with cup sizing…. As I draft and stitch samples, I’m trying to come up with something a little more creative  than the perfect…   Hopefully it will come to me… any suggestions?

I’m really excited about this pattern because I’ve taken stuff from my Top pattern that works… and adding more design features that will make this torso pattern easy to fit for everyone!   In addition to 3/4″ seam allowances along the side seams and armholes, I am including all the guide lines necessary to adjust this pattern for a great fit–Including a full bust adjustment… just in case your “Cup” doesn’t exactly fit into the cup sized pattern your working with.  Of course, the workshop will include fit muslins ready to go in every size and cup size so you can easily figure out which one is the best size to start with!  I think I’ll be up to my eyeballs in muslins by the time I stitch up the last one… Thank goodness I have an intern to work on this with me.

I’m also happy to report that my calendar for next year is filling up fast… I’m booked through April :)    I want to remind anyone who may be interested in a j stern design workshop that I’m offering my 2012 pricing thru the end of the year for workshops booked for 2013!   …. I’m teaching the Perfect White Shirt for the New England Chapter of the ASDP in February… very exciting!! If you would like an updated copy of my workshop brochure, please shoot me an email @ info@jsterndesigns.com

…Also having the WHOLE family over for Thanksgiving!!   Hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday…

  1. I would also love a cut on front placket and a couple of options for the sleeve vent. I am excited also!!

  2. Hi Jen,
Just thought of another idea–a peter pan collar option. I have not been able to find any modern patterns with a peter pan collar. It looks easy to draft one but I haven’t done it yet! :)

…again, excellent!… I may have to call this the Blossom Top! :)

      • Hee! That would be awesome!
Will the shirt have darts in the back so it’s easy to fit a sway back? :)

    Hey Blossom,
Ruffles are definitely a great design option!! Thanks for the idea.
…and as I develop this class, I’ll be on the lookout for good fabrics and sources to share! very exciting!! Jen

  4. Also I have wanted to make a white blouse for a while but can never find fabric that is not too transparent. I hate being able to see facings and whatnot through white fabric. I guess I’m trying to find opaque fabric that’s also relatively wrinkle-free (because I don’t like carefully ironing a garment only for it to look like it was never ironed after 10 minutes of wearing…) but it’s impossible!

  5. Hi Jen!
How about an optional ruffle? I love ruffles!
