Sorry I’ve been quiet on jsd… It’s just that I’ve really been working hard on getting this pattern finished! … You know the saying “It takes a Village….” I want to take a minute and thank everyone who helps me get this stuff done. Of course, I couldn’t get through without the help of my friends… whether it’s hands-on assistance or the lending of an ear (or two!) I’m a super lucky girl!
… But in addition to my friends, I have found a few professionals who go above and beyond the call of duty. In order to get a pattern produced, the master size needs to be made into a size range. This process is known as “grading”. I do know how to grade the easy stuff… but this pattern was complicated! And, I needed it done fast! I couldn’t have don’t that without Isabelle at Pattern Works, International. When I got the pattern back to me on the day promised to me, I was thrilled!… and it looked fantastic! …so if anyone out there is working on a pattern that they need graded, I highly recommend her!
Next, I needed printing… (I always need printing). So, I called Jake at Action Blue Print, and got copies of the pattern printed on 36″ wide paper. If any of you live local to Manchester CT and you need printing you are in luck… I’m super lucky because I practically live right around the corner!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
… Now I’m off to make fit muslins in all the different sizes and cup sizes!! It’s going to be an exciting weekend of cutting, marking and sewing… woo hoo! If you want to be one of the first to work with pattern, I’m teaching a two day workshop in Berlin MA for the ASDP next weekend! During the workshop you’ll have the opportunity to try on fit muslins, pick the best size for your shape, and learn how to fit it to you! …Then on Sunday, we’ll work with a kit (that I’m providing as a bonus) to construct a collar, a continuous placket and a cuff!
PS. I’m also trying to come up a more exciting and original name for this pattern than “The perfectly fitted shirt pattern”….But I may have to call it that because when I put ”The perfectly fitted shirt pattern” into the google search to find the link for the workshop next weekend it came up third on the list! That’s exciting, I haven’t even started with it yet
Happy day everyone!

So glad your pattern work on the perfectly fitted shirt is moving along.
We are looking forward to hosting this class at the CT Chapter of the American Sewing Guild in late April 2013. Can’t wait!
